About

Our mission is to make it easy for everyone to ride safely. Shared e-scooters and bikes, like those offered by Bird, Lime, Jump, Skip, Spin, Grow and others, are the most convenient form of transportation ever invented, yet a regular bike helmet is incredibly inconvenient to carry around. People who use shared e-scooter and bike services often make a spontaneous decision to hop on a scooter or bike, just like you’d book an Uber or Lyft car. So why would you carry a clunky helmet around just in case you hop on a scooter or bike? Most people don’t. That’s where Morpher comes in. We make helmets convenient! Our flat folding helmet folds down to just 2.5” thin and weighs less than a pound so can always have a helmet at the ready in your bag. It’s also incredibly useful for people who commute via bike or scooter. Gone are the days of knocking over your co-worker’s coffee with the bike helmet awkwardly hanging from you backpack!

Back in 2011, the first bike share system launched in London. Jeff Woolfe, OBE, Morpher’s inventor and CEO noticed something crazy - lots of Londoners used the new bike share, but almost no one wore a helmet! Jeff had been in a major cycling crash years earlier and a helmet likely saved his life, so he found this was deeply troubling. He had a hunch that the reason why bike share riders weren’t wearing helmets was because regular helmets are awkward to carry around, especially because most riders make a spontaneous decision to hop on a bike share.

So Jeff commissioned a survey to investigate this thesis and, sure enough, he found that 82% of the riders surveyed didn’t wear a helmet due to lack of portability. In 2013, he launched what was then one of the most successful Indiegogo campaigns to date - his target was $35,000 and by the end of the campaign, he’d raised over $400,000. He spent the next three years designing and developing the product and traveling the world to find a factory that could manufacture it. Since then, the company has sold thousands upon thousands of helmets and the increasing popularity of shared e-scooter and bike services has made the Morpher helmet an essential safety device for urban transportation around the globe.
